Listen to some of the people behind the project offering more details.
We want to lift you and your business. And strengthen the maritime industry. That is why we have set up a training scheme for the best entrepreneuers in the country, including coaching, expert assistance and networks. We have five seats. One of them could be yours.
We are looking for entrepreneuers with ideas, solutions and products for direct application in the maritime industry.
You must be ambitious, have the courage to move forward and be ready to present your idea to some of the industry beacons.
We have called the experts, activated our networks and set up a strong scheme. All we need now is you and your idea.
We select five of the best entrepreneuers in the country and offer you goal-oriented assistance from experts and mentors for nine months so that you can develop your business and get a stronger foothold in the maritime industry.
Your participation is free of charge. We offer all the expertise. You provide your idea, your time and lots of dedication.
You meet other entrepreneurs and companies from the maritime world – perhaps your next customer, co-operation partner or investor.
You are backed by a strong team of professional advisers and maritime experts who are ready to lift your business.
You meet some industry beacons who will function as mentors or co-operation partners, or simply share their knowledge over a cup of coffee.
At a total value of DKK 200,000, you get to know the industry better, gain access to specialists and obtain personal assistance in your effort to develop your business.
The scheme runs for nine months and concludes with a growth plan that will lift your business and make it ready to set sail for the future.
The project Maritime Star is run by MARCOD, a knowledge centre from northern Jutland that focuses on strengthening the maritime industry. We have received funds from The Danish Industry Foundation and EU to invest in you and another four ambitious entrepreneuers. External specialists are ready to assist you in developing your business. We have activated our networks and have managed to get a strong team of industry beacons on board as mentors and potential co-operation partners.
Because together we can strengthen the industry. By offering a helping hand to the entrepreneurs, we can create a shortcut into the future. We believe that this project can foster mutual inspiration, insights into new products, a higher co-operation level, more investments, increased growth and perhaps some exciting joint ventures.
From April to December, you will continuously be working on your own business concept together with your mentor, professional business developers and consultants who will be made available when needed.
Are ambitious and serious about your business
Have potential and are willing to grow
Are able to create new products and solutions for the maritime industry
Have a business that has not been registered for more than three years
Are ready to pitch your idea in front of a panel consisting of some of the most important industry players
No. Not necessarily. Good ideas and innovative solutions can also come from completely different industries. You can find inspiration in the themes that were selected by the industry beacons as interesting. And if you have a fantastic idea within some other area, you are welcome to apply on equal terms with everyone else. We just need to see a clear direction or the possibility to sell your product to the maritime industry.
No. We are looking for the best candidates from the entire country of Denmark. Your place of birth, childhood home and current address are not important. We also have participating beacon companies outside of northern Jutland. We do, however, expect you to take part in the three group meetings held in northern Jutland for three days each.
Yes. If your idea is good enough and all you need is the last push to finally set sail, you can participate even if you are a brand-new entrepreneur. However, we expect most participants to have developed their idea relatively thoroughly and be ready to grow. And that the more well-established entrepreneurs will gain the most from participating in the scheme. But all applications are welcome, no matter the stage.
You and your mentor will agree on that. You will be matched with an industry beacon who will function as a mentor for you. In some cases, it might make more sense to give you access to some of their facilities or data. In other cases, perhaps it is better for you to work at a desk at their office. We assist you in setting up a process that makes sense to both the beacon and the entrepreneur.
We believe that we can create a shortcut into the future by assisting the entrepreneurs in entering the maritime industry. Established companies are curious about the ideas and innovation solutions from the entrepreneurs, and they can step in with a helping hand during the difficult start-up phase. MARCOD works towards strengthening the maritime industry. And by co-operating across organisations we can all contribute to creating growth and employment in Blue Denmark. That is why.
Click the button and we will contact you.
Application deadline is March 1st 2019 and we will evaluate incoming applications as and when we get them. The sooner you apply, the better your chance of being invited.
First, we select those 8-10 applications that we believe in the most. The finalists have to present their idea in front of a panel consisting of businesspeople and beacons from the maritime industry who have already received and read the applications. The day of the finals is March 20th 2019. Here, the selected finalists have 10-12 minutes to talk about their concept and afterwards, the panel will ask supplementary questions. When the day is over, we select up to five participants for the training scheme 2019.
Maritime Stars is funded by the European Social Fund and The Danish Industry Foundation. MARCOD and the participating beacon companies contribute their time and expertise. And you must do the same. Participation is free of charge for you but you must invest at least 280 hours in the project during the nine- month period. This equals 31 hours a week which you must register on a continuous basis.
Just wait until next year. We will repeat the training scheme in 2020 and 2021. And we use the same procedure every year. Selection is done from January to Match. The training scheme runs from April to December. Every year with five new entrepreneurs.
